first paddle on the Ottawa River

Gardened this morning. Sowed swiss chard, small green onions, sunflowers, and curly lettuce. There is still a chance of frost but I'm risking it.

Filmed a basketball game between my grade six students and their parents and older siblings. I think this might become a new tradition.

Went paddling with buddies, Jacqueline and Lyne, in the late afternoon. The wind, although still creating tiny ripples on the bay, was dying down. We crossed a muskrat and an unidentified sea bird. I can't find it anywhere in my bird books and I'm a little tired today.

10 things I'd like to do this summer

1. Kayak on the Upper St-Lawrence and see the great blue whale.

2. Walk up Mont-Tremblant with my best friend again.

3. Visit a beekeeper.

4. Learn to play the mandolin.

5. Cycle a different part of the island of Montreal, maybe along the Lachine canal.

6. Paddle with belugas on the Saguenay river.

7. Sit the veranda in a slightly damp bathing suit and read all day.

8. Observe white or blond bears north of Montebello.

9. Raise and release at least 30 monarch butterflies.

10. Get published.
